China's Trillions, Malysia's Welcome & 52 Cent Burgers

The International Herald Tribune reports that China intends to diversify and invest its 1 trillion dollar foreign currency reserves.
Meanwhile, the IHT Travel Section has a post on it’s current front page, originally written May 11, 2006 Buying Malaysia, featuring a not new story about Malaysia wanting to cultivate it’s second home My Seond Home, where retired expatriates are invited to live, and spend, in Malaysia. .. Resident guests receive a 10 year social guest pass, if they can deposit approxiamtely $80,000.00 US into a Malaysian bank, and have provable income monthly of about $2,000.00 US.
How this currently bodes for the happiness of the new resident, in the legally Islamic faith based nation, for US citizens, at present is not discussed....although 52 cent McDonald’s hamburgers could be influential in one's choice, either way....
Meanhile, in the state of Georgia, US, Harvard Medical School reports: MOCK OUTBREAK: PLAYING THE PART IN AN EMERGENCY DRILL: Hundreds take part in exercise to help prepare for pandemic , at Harvard
Since I live at a town with a world renowned bird sanctuary, please expect an occassional view of the pandemic that has not, fortunately, occurred....

Newsweek reports, in a web exclusive, a conversation with the Palestinian Finance Minister, who actually sounds like someone you could enjoy having lunch with, oddly....
The new minister discusses peace, power sharing and whether Hamas can stay in office if sanctions aren't lifted.
Also at Newsweek is a blurb on 'Down the Wrong Road'. That's how the father of one of the 'Barbie Bandits' describes their fall from grace. "How nice middle-class girls became strippers and alleged bank robbers."
This is a half-smile shout-out to Bob at sister/brother-site todays.world.com.au and his recent Barbie joke. Poor Barbie, she’s getting a hard time of it lately.....
