Blood Moon Tonight

Blood Moon
Blood Moon

Wired and David Warren have nice comments on the Blood Moon that will be visible tonight.

No other visible until 2010 ...

Well, the political season in the States is more hopeful than it's been in years....

Everybody's talkin', and I'm feeling the excitement as much as anyone.
Though, now that Barack Obama appears, as of this date, to be the Democratic nominee, I'm feeling disappointment for Hillary.

To me John McCain is the honorable, Senator Obama is the hope, and Senator Clinton is the worker. Actually, if there were only a way to get an administration in which each figured prominently...

Well, it's likely two will still be Senators when it's over. And contribute someway, somehow, somewhere...

As we say good-bye to the old (hopefully), the Department of Homeland Security (on behalf of whom, really?) lost in it's efforts to cripple another union in America. Washington Post ..
time is marching on. ..

Probably as an outsider to US system my comments can only be seen perceptual.

McCain we know little about except he was in the military and does not like torture. Different man to GWB.

Obama is the new kid on the block and seems to be very smart able to handle pressure well. Does not want to be in Iraq too long.

Clinton just comes across like Bill Clinton junior. Yet she has her own history and baggage with negatives.

The bottom line to the outsider is how they affect what is outside the USA. Inflation or recession in the US echoes badly in the world economy. Foreign policy issues also cause bigger issues for the world.

Hi Damo,

Your comments from another continent are welcome. It's a borderless world...

From my perspective, in the country, John is generally seen as authentic and honest, as much as a politician can be. Most of us accept that there's a certain amount of catering to certain groups to get elected. It is a matter of how far, or how sincerely you seem to go. Where is the authentic person/politician? John is seen as a basically decent man who has a practical and compassionate heart.

Obama is the new kid, though he is not a kid. But he hasn't been on the national scene for that long. Most of us, in states other than his own, didn't know his name until a couple of years ago. So, in many ways, he is an unknown commodity.

What is so exciting to most, is that he is so eloquent, and dares to say he dreams of things a lot of us feared were lost in our polilticians.

With Hillary, oh goodness.

Many people were thoroughly disgusted and embarrassed over an impeachment based on sex. I know. It was supposed to be about telling the truth under oath. Like politicians and business people do that.

And all the politicians who resigned during the impeachment, because of their affairs...

And Henry Hyde, Heaven rest his soul, pushing the case, when he had done what he described as a "youthful indiscretion" (with a child born from it) which had occurred decades before, except that he had been only a few years younger than Bill Clinton was (I believe, we're going back a few years here

But, a lot of us know how committed Hillary was to healthcare for all Americans, among other issues. And, we know a lot of folks hate her because she is a woman speaking out. Gosh, how people talked about her not knowing her place...

And, for some of us older gals, well, ... I guess I figure that my place, D., is any where I'm standing. After all these decades, of trying to be a good person, mom, sister, daughter, etc., I think I've earned it. ( Not that I've succeeded at alll those roles, I did say trying to be

And so most of us figure she is proven, though only a Senator for a short time like Obama. She has been through the fire. And it got hot.

Folks in the States are, a lot of them anyway, tired of shame. We don't like being associated with torture, or lies. We don't want to send folks to fight wars, and then try to cut their benefits, or have our miliatary families needing food stamps, or getting inferior medical care at facilities when they come back to the States. That isn't how we want to see ourselves. That isn't who we want to be. As a country.

As for the world, we need to elect somebody as President who will talk to other nations, before shooting at them. The exciting thing is, I think any one of the three people we're talking about will do that
